How publishing works

From manuscript to published book

Six stages. You approve each one before the next begins.

The process

  1. 01

    Submit your manuscript

    Send your manuscript for assessment. Submitting costs nothing and does not commit you to anything.

  2. 02

    Review and finalise the agreement

    We assess the work, discuss scope and format, and issue a written quote and timetable. If you accept, a publishing agreement is issued.

  3. 03

    Editing, proofreading and formatting

    Production begins. Text is copy-edited and proofread, and the interior is typeset to the chosen format. You review proofs.

  4. 04

    Milestone payment per the agreement

    The first portion of the agreed fee is collected at the milestone recorded in your agreement, once the corresponding stage has been delivered.

  5. 05

    Final book prepared

    Cover finalised, metadata prepared, and an ISBN application supported where one is required. We record the identifier once it is officially allotted.

  6. 06

    Publication, listing and final payment

    The book is released and submitted to your chosen platforms. The remaining portion of the agreed fee is collected after finalisation, as set out in the agreement.

Payment milestones, amounts and due dates are those recorded in your own agreement. We do not guarantee ISBN allotment, platform acceptance, or any level of sales or earnings.
