This page explains who owns what when a book is published through Scribenex.

Your work remains yours

Copyright in the text of your manuscript remains yours, or that of the rights holder you represent. Nothing in our terms transfers ownership of your work to Scribenex.

The licence you grant

To publish, print, distribute and promote your book we need a licence to reproduce, publish and distribute the work in the formats and territories recorded in your agreement. That licence is defined in the agreement for your title, may be limited by term or territory, and reverts in the circumstances set out there.

What Scribenex owns

The Scribenex name, logo, website design and the text of our own pages are our intellectual property and may not be reproduced for commercial purposes without our written permission.

Design elements we create for your title, such as a cover layout or interior design, are prepared for that title. Reuse of the same design for another title needs our permission.

Third-party material

If your work includes text, images, maps, tables, song lyrics or other material created by someone else, you are responsible for obtaining and supplying the permission needed for the intended use and territory, and for giving us the credit wording the rights holder requires.

Moral rights and attribution

We will publish your name as the author of the work, and any co-author or contributor credited in the agreement, unless you ask us in writing to use a different form of your name or a pseudonym.

ISBN and identifiers

Where an ISBN or other identifier is obtained for a title we provide ISBN assistance and allotment support and record the identifier once it has been officially allotted. We do not manufacture or invent identifiers and cannot guarantee that an allotting agency will approve an application.

An identifier recorded against a book in our systems reflects the official allotment. Where none has been allotted we show it as not assigned rather than substituting a placeholder.

Infringement

If you believe material published by Scribenex infringes your rights, write to help@scribenex.in with details of the work, the location of the material on our service, and evidence of your rights. We will investigate and act promptly, including removing material where appropriate.
